Not every mint set contains a run of denominations. A single coin set presents one coin in official packaging — typically a commemorative issue, supplied in a case or folder with the accompanying documentation.
The packaging is part of what you are buying. A coin removed from its case is simply a coin; kept complete, the set records what was issued, for what occasion, and how it was presented.
What to check
- Packaging condition — case, sleeve and any outer box.
- Certificate — whether the accompanying documentation is present.
- Finish — proof and uncirculated presentations differ.
- The coin itself — visible condition through or within the packaging.
