America 1 Cent 1822 - "Liberty Head / Matron Head" Grade ICG - F15 High Grade Extremely Rare Coin

Description

Step back in time to the early American republic with this remarkable 1822 Matron Head, also known as the Liberty Head, large cent. Struck in pure copper at the Philadelphia Mint, this historic one-cent coin represents a fascinating era of United States numismatics, following the War of 1812 as the nation steadily grew. Designed by Robert Scot, the obverse features Lady Liberty facing left wearing a coronet, encircled by thirteen stars, while the reverse proudly displays the denomination enclosed within a wreath. This particular specimen has been professionally authenticated and graded Fine 15 by ICG, displaying honest circulation wear with bold major design details still clearly visible. Due to a very low surviving mintage, 1822 large cents are notoriously difficult to acquire in any respectable preservation level, making high-grade examples exceptionally scarce and sought-after. Advanced numismatists and early American copper specialists will recognize this piece as a cornerstone addition to a serious cabinet, offering both tangible history and enduring scarcity. Encapsulated in a secure ICG holder, this scarce collector's item is ready to become the crown jewel of your portfolio.
