Step back in time to the 18th-century Indian subcontinent with this fascinating copper paisa issued by the Hyderabad State feudatory of Basmatnagar. Struck during a turbulent and culturally rich era, this intriguing numismatic piece features a distinctive palm (hand) symbol prominently on the obverse, while the reverse remains uniface, staying true to the traditional minting techniques of the period. Weighing 9.12 grams and measuring 17.37 mm, this specimen survives in an impressive About Very Fine condition, showcasing remarkable details for its age. For intermediate and advanced collectors of Indian princely states, this coin represents a scarce and highly sought-after prize. Feudatory issues from Basmatnagar are notably elusive, making pieces with clear motifs difficult to acquire. Owning this copper paisa allows enthusiasts to physically hold a tangible fragment of Deccan history, connecting the modern numismatist to the complex administrative and monetary systems of feudal India. Carefully preserved, it is an essential addition to any serious cabinet focusing on regional Indian copper coinages.
