Description

This exceptional silver drachma represents a fascinating chapter in ancient numismatic history. Minted during the reign of Khusro II (590–627 AD), the Indo-Sassanian ruler, this coin showcases the remarkable cultural fusion between Persian and Indian territories during the late Sassanid Empire. The drachma, the standard silver denomination of the era, reflects the sophisticated coinage practices of one of antiquity's greatest empires. What distinguishes this specimen is its verified rarity status—marked as V.RARE—making it a genuine treasure for serious numismatists. Khusro II's reign was marked by extensive territorial expansion and military campaigns, and coins from this period are increasingly scarce in the collector's market. The silver composition and authentic patina speak to its age and archaeological significance. Collectors prize Indo-Sassanian coins for their historical importance, artistic merit, and limited survival rates. This piece documents a pivotal era when Persian influence extended deep into the Indian subcontinent. Whether you're building a Persian numismatic collection, studying ancient monetary systems, or seeking historically significant artifacts, this drachma offers tangible connection to over 1,400 years of history. Its rarity classification ensures both investment potential and scholarly value. #
