This is a genuine silver 1 Rupee coin issued by the Kingdom of Awadh under the rule of Wajid Ali Shah (واجد علي شاه), who reigned from 1847 to 1856. Struck between Hijri years 1263-1272, this standard circulation coin was minted at Lucknow, the capital of the Awadh princely state, one of the most culturally rich and politically significant regions of pre-colonial India. Crafted from 11.34 grams of silver with a diameter of 25mm and thickness of 2.9mm, this coin follows coin alignment (↑↓) and reflects the fine minting standards of the era. Wajid Ali Shah was the last Nawab of Awadh, renowned for his patronage of arts, music, and culture, making coins from his reign historically significant artifacts of a vanished kingdom annexed by the British East India Company in 1856. Now officially demonetized, this Rare Silver Coin #V-445 serves as a tangible link to Awadh's royal legacy and the final years of independent princely rule in India. It holds strong appeal for numismatists, historians, and collectors specializing in Indian princely states currency, offering both historical depth and rarity for serious collections.
