This rare 1 Rupee silver coin was minted by the Princely State of Bharatpur during the reign of Queen Victoria, British India's Empress, between 1858 and 1865. Struck in fine silver, the coin weighs approximately 11 grams and measures 18mm in diameter, featuring a classic round shape typical of colonial-era Indian coinage. Bharatpur, one of India's prominent princely states located in present-day Rajasthan, issued its own coinage under British suzerainty, blending local minting traditions with imperial oversight. This coin represents a fascinating chapter of Indian numismatic history, reflecting the transitional period when princely states operated semi-autonomously while acknowledging British Crown authority following the 1857 uprising. Now officially demonetized, this coin has transformed from mere currency into a genuine historical artifact, making it highly desirable among collectors of colonial Indian coins, Victorian-era numismatics, and princely state currency. Its age, silver composition, and historical significance make it a valuable addition to any serious collection. Whether you're a seasoned numismatist or a history enthusiast building your collection, this Bharatpur silver Rupee offers a tangible connection to India's rich royal and colonial past—a piece of history you can hold in your hand.
