Description
This lot brings together six 1 Rupee coins of Republic India from the large "wheat ears" definitive type, sold together as one set of six pieces.
- Six coins in the lot, each a different year: 1975, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981.
- Denomination 1 Rupee, value side showing the figure 1 flanked by wheat ears above the date, with the Lion Capital of Ashoka on the reverse.
- All six were struck at the Calcutta Mint, which issued these without a mint mark, so the space below the date is plain on every coin.
- Struck in cupro-nickel, each coin about 26 mm across.
- Not a complete date run of the type; the 1977 and 1982 dates are not included in this lot.
