This is a 1989 Republic of India one Rupee commemorative coin struck for World Food Day on the theme "Food and Environment", issued in association with the FAO. The reverse carries the Lion Capital of Ashoka with the legends भारत and INDIA and the large numeral 1, while the obverse shows a rising sun, clouds and three ears of wheat with the FAO emblem and the bilingual legends खाद्य एवं पर्यावरण, विश्व खाद्य दिवस, FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT and WORLD FOOD DAY around the date 1989.
