British Trade Dollar of 1897 in 0.900 silver, showing standing Britannia on one side and the Chinese and Jawi denomination on the other, in Very Fine condition with scratches.
Description
Rare 1897 British Trade Dollar in silver. The obverse shows Britannia standing with trident and shield, with a ship behind her and the legend ONE DOLLAR. The reverse has the Chinese characters for One Dollar and the Malay denomination in Jawi script, set inside a Greek-key border. These coins were struck for trade in the Far East.
