The United States 1 Dollar "Morgan Dollar," struck in 1889, is a classic piece of American numismatic history issued by the Federal Republic of the United States. Designed by George T. Morgan, this coin was minted between 1878 and 1921 and remains one of the most celebrated silver dollars in American coinage. Struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, it weighs 26.73 grams with a diameter of 38.1mm, giving it a substantial, authentic feel. The obverse features Lady Liberty facing left, adorned with a coronet inscribed "LIBERTY," surrounded by the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM." Produced during America's post-Civil War silver boom, fueled by the Bland-Allison Act, Morgan Dollars were minted in massive quantities using silver from the Comstock Lode. Today, this coin holds strong appeal among collectors for its historical significance, fine milled craftsmanship, and enduring silver content. Whether you're a seasoned numismatist or a new collector, this 1889 Morgan Dollar makes a valuable addition to any collection, blending tangible silver value with rich American heritage.
