Description
A silver rupee struck by the East India Company for the Bengal Presidency in the name of the Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. It carries the Murshidabad mint name and the frozen regnal year 19, a date kept unchanged on these issues for many years. The Persian legends are clear and the oblique milled border can be seen on both sides.
